3 Signs Your Ram's Tires Need Replacement

Even the highest-quality tires wear down over time due to friction, and this reduces driving safety. They can also be damaged by wheel balancing or alignment issues, worn shocks, and other issues. As your RAM dealership, we'd like you to know a few signs you need to visit us for tire replacement.

3 Signs You Need Tire Replacement at Your RAM Dealership

Tire Bulge

A tire bulge is a raised section of a tire. It can happen due to the breakdown of part of the tire's internal structure, but it's more common when part of the tire is pinched against a solid object, like the curb. Once the pressure is released, it can leave behind an air-filled lump. A bulge looks bad, but it's also dangerous as it can cause the tire to blow out.
When you drive, surface friction heats the air inside a tire. This increases the internal pressure in the tire. The area over a bulge is stretched thinner than it should be, and combined with the increased pressure, can cause the bulge to burst. This blowout can occur without warning, and depending on your speed and where you're driving, you could lose control of your RAM. A bulge can't be repaired, but we'll install a new tire so you can drive safely.

Bald Tire

The tire tread is the raised section of the tire in contact with the ground. It's divided by channels forming a pattern, allowing the tire to grip the surface. As time passes, the tread slowly wears down due to surface friction. Lower tread increases your braking distance and reduces handling. Low tread levels also decrease fuel economy, as they produce resistance that the engine has to work harder to overcome and use more fuel in the process.
The minimum safe tread thickness is 2/32", but a bald tire is a special case. Its tread has almost completely worn down, and it looks smooth. This type of tire is very dangerous, particularly in wet or muddy conditions, as it can't grip the surface, and your RAM could skid under these conditions. A bald tire can't be repaired, but we'll install a replacement within minutes.

Sidewall Damage

The sidewall is the tire area perpendicular to the surface. It's made from softer rubber to allow greater flexibility and doesn't have the steel and polymer reinforcement that strengthens the tread. This makes them vulnerable to damage from sharp objects and other hazardous situations. In addition, if your tires are underinflated, the sidewalls droop toward the ground and will suffer friction damage.
Cuts or cracks in the sidewall will rapidly turn into leaks as the rubber heats up when driving and then cools when your RAM is stationary. We can fix minor damage and replace the tire if the damage is more serious.

3 Advanced Safety Features in the 2025 Ram Models

Your RAM truck is tough and rugged, built to conquer the toughest jobs or the great outdoors. It always includes a range of advanced safety features that can warn you of potential accidents so you can prevent them. As your RAM dealership, we want to tell you how some of these features work. more From Your RAM Dealership: 3 Advanced Safety Features in 2025 RAM Models Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking This system uses advanced camera and radar technology to monitor any vehicle ahead of you on the road. The radar calculates the distance to the other vehicle, and the system compares this to your present speed. If it determines you're too close to the other vehicle and a collision is possible, a warning icon will appear on your front screen. In addition, you'll hear warning beeps that rise in intensity if you continue to close. If you apply the brakes and increase your following distance, the warnings will stop. The active braking feature will intervene if a collision is imminent and you haven't hit the brakes or taken other action. It will stop your Ram almost instantly to try and prevent an accident or, at the very least, reduce the damage caused. Automatic Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop This feature reduces the need to adjust your speed on the road. You can set a following distance, from a choice of short, medium, or long, and ACC will maintain this distance from other vehicles without your need to intervene. If the vehicle in front slows down, ACC will reduce speed automatically to keep the set distance. If the vehicle ahead stops, ACC will bring your RAM to a gentle stop. ACC automatically restarts your engine if you stop for two seconds or less. If you stop for longer than two seconds, you can push the button on your screen or tap the gas pedal, and ACC will resume. Drowsy Driver Detection Fatigue can overcome even the best driver, particularly if you're traveling late at night or are tired from a long day at work. If you become drowsy, you could lose control of your RAM, and an accident could happen. This feature monitors your reactions, including your steering wheel control and remaining centered in your lane. If the system detects signs of drowsiness, like erratic driving, intentionally moving to cross into another lane, or similar behavior, it will alert you to the danger. You'll hear warning beeps, and a warning icon will appear on your front screen. If repeated signs of drowsiness are detected, an icon of a coffee mug appears to advise you to take a break from driving.
