Damaged Compressor
Your Jeep's AC has a compressor that acts as a pump to push air and refrigerant through the system. It switches on and off during the cooling process to maintain pressure in the AC system. The compressor can wear out due to age and be damaged by low refrigerant, electrical issues, or a jammed compressor clutch.
A worn compressor supplies steadily less cold air and can produce clunking or rattling noises due to damaged components. If the compressor has failed, the AC can't operate, and no cold air will enter the cabin. Our technicians will examine the compressor and repair the damage or install a new one so the AC will work again.
Refrigerant Leak
Refrigerant is a colorless, odorless gas used to absorb moisture from the air and chill it so it can blow into your cabin. The gas is highly pressurized, so any damage to the AC system can easily cause a leak, and the refrigerant will escape. You won't see the leak, as this gas instantly dissipates in the air. The only trace it leaves is a slightly oily residue at the leak site.
If the AC leaks, the temperature in your cabin will steadily rise as more refrigerant is lost. Although the gas is invisible, we can still track its progress by adding a UV dye to the AC system. Our technicians monitor the refrigerant's movement using a UV viewer until they discover the leak site. We'll repair the leak, refill the refrigerant, and your AC will produce cold air again.
Blocked Vents
Air for the AC enters through a small vent positioned below your windshield. Once the air is cold, it blows into the cabin through the interior vents. The outside vent can become blocked by leaves, dirt, or other debris. If the AC doesn't receive enough air, the compressor won't start. The interior vents can also become blocked by the accumulation of dirt, sand, or other matter carried in the air, and this reduces or prevents cold air from blowing into the cabin.
We'll clear the outside vent, then remove any debris from the AC ducts so the air can flow freely, and your AC will work again.
